The Subscription Series is dedicated to bringing the world's greatest classical musicians to
the local audience at affordable ticket prices in an intimate venue. CMNV is a 501c3 non-profit corporation.
Founded in 1980 by Dick Lemon with support from Clos du Val Winery, Chamber Music in Napa Valley sailed through its first decade.
Under the direction of John and Maggy Kongsgaard, the series has expanded to ten concerts per year.
Each season is balanced between legendary artists and those whose international reputations have just been established.
Music for Students is free to the schools and has become an essential element of classical music education throughout Napa Valley since 2003.
It is funded by generous donations from the community and a bequest from Belle and Barney Rhodes.
World-renowned ensembles from the subscription series perform for small groups of students in middle schools, high schools, and colleges throughout the Napa Valley.

In 2015 Music for Students expanded to include elementary schools, bringing interactive concerts designed to foster a visceral understanding of music in younger students.
The elementary school concert program is a two-step process: preparatory sessions for students and corresponding intimate, interactive concerts with premiere chamber musicians.
Curriculum specific to a concert program is taught by CMNV Teaching Artists.
Students discover the music they will subsequently hear in the concert through imaginative play, singing, dancing, listening, and visualizing.
